SOLITUDE

In Solitude, part of John Black’s Death series, the artist explores the fragile boundary between beauty and irreversible loss. A single indigo bloom, rendered with quiet precision, absorbs rather than reflects light — its stillness suggesting contemplation and absence. This serenity is violently disrupted by the presence of bullet-like ruptures piercing the surface. These gestures function both as physical intervention and metaphor, confronting the viewer with the coexistence of tenderness and destruction.
